HCLSoftware’s €9 Million Bet on Filling the Gaps APIs Can’t Reach

HCLSoftware, the software arm of HCLTech, will acquire Croatia-based robotic process automation company Robotiq.ai for an enterprise value of €9 million, roughly ₹98 crore. The deal adds RPA capabilities to HCL UnO Agentic, the company’s orchestration and automation platform, and is expected to close in November 2026.

Filling the Gap APIs Leave Behind

HCLSoftware said the acquisition will let HCL UnO Agentic automate tasks inside enterprise applications where APIs are either unavailable or not sufficient on their own. In practice, this means the platform can now interact with software the same way a human employee would, by working through the interface itself, rather than depending entirely on a clean API connection that may not exist for older or more specialized systems.

What Robotiq.ai Brings to the Table

Based in Zagreb, Robotiq.ai runs an enterprise RPA platform already used by large banks, insurance groups, and telecom providers, industries where reliability and compliance carry particularly high stakes. The company said its platform includes ISO certified security, detailed audit logs, and flexible deployment options, features that matter directly to the kind of regulated, large-scale clients HCLSoftware is targeting.

Kalyan Kumar, President of HCLSoftware, framed the deal as a response to where enterprise demand is heading. Enterprises are looking beyond AI experimentation toward production-scale automation that is secure, governed and reliable, he said in a statement.

Part of a Broader Shift Toward Agentic Automation

The move reflects a wider pattern taking shape across enterprise software, where AI agents, software robots, and human oversight are increasingly being combined within the same automated workflows rather than treated as separate tools. Video conferencing platform Zoom has been pushing in a similar direction, expanding its own agentic AI platform toward full workflow execution. In March, Zoom added the ability for custom AI agents to retrieve information, automate tasks, and orchestrate workflows across third-party systems including Salesforce, Slack, and ServiceNow, a move that mirrors HCLSoftware’s own push toward more capable, production-ready automation.

This acquisition also builds on HCLTech’s broader generative AI momentum. Earlier this year, the company expanded its collaboration with Gemini Enterprise and Gemini models specifically to build custom AI agents, positioning the Robotiq.ai deal as another piece of a larger strategy rather than a standalone move.
