IBM and Yotta Data Services have launched the Sovereign Agentic AI Platform for Indian organisations, combining IBM’s enterprise AI capabilities with Yotta’s sovereign AI cloud infrastructure. The platform is built using IBM watsonx Orchestrate and deployed on Yotta’s Shakti Cloud.
Keeping AI Operations Inside India
The platform is designed to help organisations deploy, run, and govern AI agents at scale while keeping data, inference, operations, and governance controls entirely within India. It brings together AI-agent orchestration, GPU infrastructure, model development, and inference capabilities in one offering, available through Yotta’s Panvel and Greater Noida cloud regions.
Within this setup, IBM watsonx Orchestrate acts as the control plane, handling the securing, governing, and managing of AI agents, while Yotta’s Shakti Cloud supplies the compute, GPU infrastructure, networking, security, and operational capabilities that enterprise AI workloads require.
Why Sovereignty Is Becoming Central to AI Strategy
Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, framed the launch around a broader shift in how Indian enterprises are approaching AI. With regulations evolving in India, digital sovereignty and open-source models are becoming a defining requirement for organisations as they scale AI from pilots to production, he said. The priority is no longer just what AI can do, but how securely, transparently and compliantly it can be deployed.
Sunil Gupta, Co-founder, MD and CEO of Yotta Data Services, echoed that emphasis on control across every layer of the AI stack, not just the data itself. “India’s AI journey requires organisations to have control not only over their data, but also over the infrastructure, compute, models, inference, and operations that power AI,” he said. Yotta’s Shakti Cloud and Shakti Studio provide this sovereign AI foundation, while IBM brings its enterprise AI and agentic AI capabilities to help organizations move from experimentation to production.”
Where the Platform Can Be Used
Organisations can apply the platform across a range of workflows, including security operations, document processing, and HR automation, among other use cases, positioning it as a general purpose foundation for agentic AI rather than a tool built for one specific function.
