According to Forrester’s 2026 Asia Pacific Predictions Report, quantum security is poised to become one of the region’s most critical enterprise priorities. The research forecasts that over 90% of Asia Pacific (APAC) firms will begin investing in post-quantum cryptography and resilience frameworks by next year, driven by escalating threats from quantum decryption and state-sponsored cyber espionage.
The report highlights how regional governments, led by Singapore’s National Quantum-Safe Network Plus and India’s National Quantum Mission, are already laying the groundwork for quantum-secure infrastructure — signalling an era where quantum readiness becomes a competitive necessity rather than an experimental pursuit.
A Shift from AI Hype to Quantum Pragmatism
Forrester’s latest insights suggest that while artificial intelligence continues to dominate technology investment conversations, quantum security has emerged as the silent backbone of digital resilience. Cyber attackers are increasingly adopting “harvest now, decrypt later” strategies — intercepting encrypted data today with the goal of decrypting it once quantum computers mature.
“By 2026, enterprises that fail to prepare for the quantum age risk losing control over their most sensitive assets,” the report warns, adding that firms will begin to view cryptographic migration as a strategic imperative, not an optional upgrade.
Resilience Over Hype: The New Mandate for APAC CIOs
Beyond cybersecurity, Forrester’s 2026 outlook paints a broader picture of technology maturity across the Asia Pacific region.
Key trends include:
Sovereign Cloud Strategies: Half of all regional firms are expected to adopt “diverse cloud” strategies that combine U.S., Chinese, and domestic providers to mitigate geopolitical risks and maintain national data sovereignty.
Organizational Realignment: Nearly one-third of enterprises will waste resources on “performative” rebranding of IT teams as product-led divisions without genuine operational transformation.
China’s Expanding Tech Influence: The ongoing electric vehicle (EV) boom and rising adoption of Chinese technology platforms across APAC will drive hyperscaler growth rates to double, despite sovereignty and security concerns.
Dane Anderson, SVP of International Research and Product at Forrester, said:
“In 2026, Asia Pacific leaders will need to recalibrate their tech strategies to reflect local realities while staying globally competitive. Quantum resilience, data sovereignty, and AI-driven automation will define next-generation competitiveness.”
Quantum Security as the Foundation of Digital Trust
As organizations race toward quantum readiness, experts stress the need for early cryptographic inventory, governance frameworks, and migration planning. The transition to quantum-safe encryption will require coordination between governments, cloud providers, and enterprise CISOs to future-proof mission-critical systems.
Forrester’s findings reinforce a clear message — in the digital economy of 2026 and beyond, quantum resilience will be synonymous with business resilience.
The enterprises that act early will not only secure their data but also strengthen investor and consumer confidence in a world where the line between innovation and vulnerability continues to blur.
