The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has achieved a significant milestone by settling over 5.08 crore claims worth ₹2,05,932.49 crore in the ongoing FY25, according to Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. This surpasses the 4.45 crore claims amounting to ₹1,82,838.28 crore settled in FY24, marking a historic achievement for the organisation.
Reforms Driving Efficiency
Mandaviya attributed the achievement to a series of transformative reforms aimed at improving claim settlement processes and minimising grievances among EPFO members. Key measures implemented include:
- Expansion of auto-settled claims categories
- Simplification of member profile changes
- Streamlined PF transfers
- Enhanced KYC compliance
A major factor in improving claim processing speed has been the auto-claim settlement mechanism, which enables claims to be settled within three days of submission. In FY25, 1.87 crore auto claims were processed, doubling the 89.52 lakh auto claims processed in FY24.
Streamlined PF Transfers and Member Approvals
EPFO’s reforms have significantly simplified the PF transfer claim process. Currently, only 8% of transfer claims require both member and employer attestation. Approximately 48% of claims are submitted directly by members, and 44% are generated automatically, reducing administrative intervention.
Reforms related to member profile corrections have also improved efficiency. Over 97% of profile changes are now self-approved by members, while less than 1% require employer approval. Office intervention has dropped to 0.4%, and rejection rates have declined to 1.11% by employers and 0.21% by regional offices.

Technology and Process Simplification
Mandaviya emphasized that EPFO’s use of technology and process improvements has enhanced the ease of access for members. “These reforms have accelerated claim settlements and reduced grievances, strengthening trust in EPFO,” he stated.
The government plans to continue leveraging digital solutions to improve service efficiency, ensuring that members benefit from faster processing times and simplified procedures. This milestone reinforces EPFO’s commitment to delivering seamless and reliable services to its growing member base.
