Krutrim Acquires BharatSah’AI’yak for Public AI Push

Krutrim, India’s first AI unicorn, has acquired BharatSah’AI’yak to deepen its impact in public sector digital transformation. The move strengthens Krutrim’s focus on vernacular and Bharat-centric AI deployments, extending its reach into grassroots governance, agriculture, and education initiatives.

Created by Samagra, BharatSah’AI’yak has already powered several successful implementations of AI solutions tailored for state use cases. These include chatbots for Maha Kumbh 2025 pilgrims, agricultural advisory services for Odisha farmers, and multilingual support for navigating government schemes. All were built with a focus on text and voice interactions that combine conversational and deterministic flows, making the technology usable even in remote or low-tech regions.

Krutrim to scale public-facing AI with vernacular, voice, and agentic capabilities

With this acquisition, Krutrim will integrate BharatSah’AI’yak into its ecosystem, leveraging its proprietary cloud infrastructure, large language models (LLMs), and its agentic AI platform that powers “Kruti”—India’s first agentic AI assistant. This combination allows for greater scalability and alignment with public-sector needs.

Krutrim’s team said the acquisition is aimed at “widening the accessibility of AI for every Indian,” with a clear focus on language inclusion and regional diversity. The move also helps build capacity in mission-critical citizen services that increasingly rely on intelligent automation.

Democratizing AI for governance and rural inclusion

Krutrim plans to extend BharatSah’AI’yak’s offerings through Krutrim Cloud and further embed its agentic capabilities into applications across multiple government verticals. The company also aims to advance India’s AI strategy by making core AI functionality—like voice assistants, scheme lookups, and regional support—affordable and widely available.

This integration comes just weeks after the launch of Kruti, which Krutrim positions as a next-gen alternative to traditional chatbots. Kruti offers proactive task execution for citizens, including booking cabs, paying bills, and generating images—bridging the gap between access and action.

As India expands its vision of Digital Public Infrastructure and inclusive governance, Krutrim’s acquisition of BharatSah’AI’yak is expected to play a pivotal role in democratizing AI access at scale.
