TCS and Qualcomm Launch Edge AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Qualcomm have announced the launch of a joint innovation lab in Bengaluru, aimed at building real-time Edge AI solutions that are scalable, sustainable, and industry-ready. This partnership marks a strategic expansion in their ongoing collaboration and leverages both companies’ strengths to support the digital transformation of enterprises through intelligent, software-driven systems.

A State-of-the-Art Lab for Practical Edge AI

The new lab, part of TCS’s “Bringing Life to Things” Network Lab, is equipped with a private 5G network and advanced IoT infrastructure. It will focus on rapid prototyping and scaled deployment of solutions across sectors such as:

  • Healthcare (e.g., intelligent medical devices)

  • Manufacturing (e.g., predictive maintenance)

  • Smart infrastructure

  • Safety and surveillance systems

The lab enables real-time analytics and adaptive intelligence at the edge—close to where data is generated—leading to faster decision-making and improved system resilience.

Harnessing the Power of SDx and Qualcomm Chips

TCS will bring its Software-Defined Everything (SDx) framework to the table, allowing systems to be hardware-agnostic, secure, and dynamically responsive to changing operational needs. Qualcomm’s Edge AI-enabled chipsets will serve as the foundation for intelligent connectivity, making it possible to build next-gen industrial systems.

“Combining TCS’s SDx approach with Qualcomm’s cutting-edge platforms allows us to create intelligent solutions that evolve with business needs,” said Regu Ayyaswamy, Global Head of IoT and Digital Engineering at TCS.

Industrial Applications with Real Impact

From AI-enabled automation to device prognostics and smart network controls, the innovation lab will drive use cases that deliver tangible impact. Solutions developed here are expected to help clients reduce operational costs, enhance safety, and improve system uptime across diverse industries.

Savi Soin, India President at Qualcomm, noted, “This lab is not just about tech demos. It’s about solving real problems in real time, for real businesses.”

Strengthening an Ongoing Collaboration

The new lab builds on a longstanding relationship between the two tech giants, which includes collaboration in silicon design, IoT infrastructure, and large-scale system deployments.

TCS emphasized that the Edge AI lab represents a forward-looking step in enabling enterprises to embrace intelligent, automated operations with scalable solutions that are both cost-efficient and tailored to modern challenges.
