Western Union and HCLTech Launch AI-Led GCC in Hyderabad for Payments Modernisation

Western Union has inaugurated an AI‑led Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad in partnership with HCLTech, positioning the facility as a strategic hub for payments innovation and digital platform modernisation. The centre will apply AI and data‑driven engineering to Western Union’s core technology stack, supporting the company’s broader shift from a pure remittance model to a diversified digital financial services business. Senior leaders from both organisations framed the GCC as a long‑term investment in scalable, secure and customer‑centric payment infrastructure.​

AI-Led GCC to Accelerate Platform Modernisation

The Hyderabad GCC is designed to play a central role in Western Union’s technology roadmap, with a clear mandate to drive AI‑powered transformation across key systems and services. The centre will leverage HCLTech’s AI Force platform to support use cases such as intelligent process automation, real‑time analytics and modernisation of legacy components within the payments stack.

By embedding AI into critical workflows, Western Union aims to improve reliability, reduce operational friction and create a foundation for faster rollout of new digital features across channels.
