CERT-In Handled 29L+ Incidents in 2025, Achieves Global Cyber Leadership Recognition

India’s CERT-In, the national cybersecurity agency under MeitY, managed 29.44 lakh cyber incidents in 2025 while issuing 1,530 alerts, 390 vulnerability notes, and 65 advisories, demonstrating robust response capabilities supporting India’s 100+ crore internet connections and explosive digital growth.

The agency empaneled 231 cybersecurity audit organizations, conducted 122 drills across 1,570 organizations, trained 20,799 professionals, and achieved 98% digital population coverage through Cyber Swachhta Kendra with 89.55 lakh malware removal downloads.

Institutional Framework Anchors National Resilience

CERT-In coordinates sectoral CSIRTs for Finance and Power alongside NCCC metadata monitoring and CCMP crisis management protocols. Key 2025 deliverables included India Ransomware Report, BFSI Digital Threat Report, Quantum Cyber Readiness whitepaper, Smart City Infrastructure guidelines, and 15 MSME Cyber Controls.

95 awareness sessions reached 91,065 participants during NCSAM October 2025, complemented by Satellite Communication advisories and 29 CVE identifications. UPI processed 21B transactions worth ₹27 lakh crore in December 2025 alone against this sophisticated threat landscape.

Global Recognition Validates Leadership

World Economic Forum’s Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2025 highlighted CERT-In’s AI-driven threat detection and real-time intelligence sharing. Contributions to Oxford-WEF Cyber Resilience Compass and ANSSI’s AI Cyber Risk report positioned India among global cybersecurity thought leaders.

CSIRT-Fin strengthens BFSI resilience while CSIRT-Power fortifies energy infrastructure through coordinated incident response and vulnerability remediation. The Union Budget 2025-26 allocated ₹782 crore for cybersecurity, underscoring national priority.

Comprehensive Ecosystem Approach

CERT-In’s security assurance framework mandates regular audits across banking, power, transport, and government systems. Automated cyber threat exchange enables near-real-time information sharing while vulnerability disclosure programs institutionalize responsible practices.

The agency’s sustained operational scale—handling incidents at massive velocity while building ecosystem capacity—establishes CERT-In as foundational infrastructure enabling India’s digital economy growth with enterprise-grade cyber resilience.
