CIBC to Set Up GCC in Hyderabad as City Deepens BFSI Tech Hub Status

Canadian banking giant CIBC is set to establish its global capability centre in Hyderabad, adding fresh momentum to the city’s fast-growing reputation as a major hub for financial services technology. The centre is expected to launch in July with the capacity to house more than 2,000 professionals, translating into a significant on-ground expansion from the investment commitment made at the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025.

Strengthening BFSI Capabilities

The Hyderabad GCC is expected to strengthen CIBC’s global technology and financial services capabilities while creating skilled roles across banking technology, analytics and related functions. The move also deepens Hyderabad’s fintech ecosystem at a time when the city is increasingly competing with other major Indian tech hubs for global capability centre investments.

Hyderabad’s GCC Momentum

CIBC’s entry comes alongside a growing list of BFSI players already operating in Hyderabad, including JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, UBS, Vanguard, Wells Fargo, Deutsche Börse, HSBC, US Bancorp, Barclays, American Express and Zurich Insurance. Recent activity also includes LPL Financial opening a large GCC in the city, reinforcing Hyderabad’s appeal as a destination for global financial services work.

Beyond BFSI

The city’s GCC growth is also expanding beyond banking and finance. Nestlé is planning a GCC that will support innovation and supply chain development, while US-based aerospace and advanced engineering firm SARGAD is preparing to launch a global innovation centre in Hyderabad. Together, these moves point to Hyderabad’s widening role as a multi-industry hub for technology, innovation and enterprise operations.
