DPIIT, Mercedes-Benz India Sign MoU

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mercedes-Benz India to strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem, road safety, and environmental sustainability. The collaboration aims to support startups, foster innovation, and drive responsible technological advancements.

Strengthening India’s Manufacturing and Startup Ecosystem

The partnership will establish structured programs to provide startups with infrastructure, mentorship, funding opportunities, and market access. Additionally, it will facilitate international collaborations and knowledge exchange, enabling long-term technological growth in India.

DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative, stating:
“The partnership with Mercedes-Benz India is a significant step towards enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities while promoting responsible and sustainable innovations. It will strengthen industry-academia linkages and create an ecosystem that drives impactful technological advancements.”

Mercedes-Benz India’s Commitment to Sustainability and Road Safety

Mercedes-Benz India has committed to working closely with incubators and academic institutions through corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding, focusing on:

  • Road safety initiatives to enhance vehicle and traffic safety in India.
  • Environmental sustainability projects to support clean energy and green manufacturing.
  • Advanced manufacturing capabilities to boost India’s industrial sector.

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz India, highlighted the company’s vision for sustainable development, stating:
“This collaboration aligns with our focus areas of road safety, environmental sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. Through our CSR initiatives, we aim to drive meaningful societal impact by partnering with incubators and institutions.”

A Roadmap for Innovation and Industry Growth

The MoU was signed by DPIIT Director Dr. Sumeet Kumar Jarangal and Mercedes-Benz India MD Santosh Iyer, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

This partnership marks a major step in fostering industry-led innovation in India, providing startups and entrepreneurs with the tools and resources needed to develop impactful solutions in mobility, sustainability, and manufacturing.
