Goa CM Launches Center of Excellence with Tata Technologies

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a Center of Excellence under Tata Technologies Ltd at ITI Altinho, Panjim. The initiative, aimed at enhancing skill development and job creation for Goa’s youth, is part of a collaborative project between Tata Technologies and the Goa government.

As part of the event, CM Sawant also virtually inaugurated five additional centers at Bicholim, Vasco, Farmagudi, Cacora, and Mapusa. The ceremony was attended by key officials, including Education Secretary Prasad Lolyekar, Director of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship SS Gaonkar, Tata Technologies South India Head Prashant Handigund, and IMC Chairman Gaurish Dhond.

₹214 Crore Investment for Skill Development

The project involves a ₹214 crore investment from Tata Technologies, with the Goa government contributing ₹49 crore. These Centers of Excellence aim to expand training opportunities for youth. They provide access to modern infrastructure, resources, and industry-specific programs that prepare them for employment in emerging sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sawant reaffirmed his commitment to improving Industrial Training Institute (ITI) infrastructure across Goa. “I welcome and congratulate Tata Technologies and DSDE for establishing this initiative. These centers will empower our youth with essential skills for employment and entrepreneurship,” he stated in a post on X.

Focus on Empowering Young Innovators

The CoEs are designed to bridge the skill gap in various industries by offering programs for the current and future market demands. The Goa government aims to foster entrepreneurship and collaborative innovation through these hubs, further supporting the state’s economic growth.
