IBM Launches Agentic AI Centre in Bengaluru

IBM has launched a new Agentic AI Innovation Centre at its Bengaluru campus, aiming to help Indian enterprises accelerate the adoption of autonomous AI agents. The centre is designed to support co-innovation, experimentation, and real-world deployment of AI systems in complex enterprise environments.

The facility will allow clients and partners to build AI agents, fine-tune Small Language Models (SLMs), and audit agent behavior in live scenarios. It also serves as a collaborative space where startups and developers can engage with IBM’s AI experts to explore practical agentic use cases.

Fostering proactive AI strategy and hands-on learning

IBM executives emphasized that the centre will move enterprise AI strategies from reactive to proactive. The facility is aligned with IBM’s broader push for agentic AI—a model where intelligent agents can act autonomously within defined guardrails to drive business outcomes.

To deepen this engagement, IBM will organize regular “AI Accelerator Days” and developer-focused sessions to foster a community of practice. The company expects the centre to serve as a hub for both upskilling and solution development.

At the core of the initiative is IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate platform, which provides the tools and governance to design, build, and manage AI agents. The platform supports seamless integration with existing enterprise systems such as CRM, ERP, and HR platforms, enabling businesses to embed intelligent agents into existing workflows.

Industry collaboration and research-backed strategy

According to a recent IBM–Oxford Economics survey, 78% of Indian leaders see agentic AI as a key enabler for better decision-making. The same number are actively encouraging their teams to experiment with AI agents, signaling readiness for change.

IBM India MD Sandip Patel highlighted the importance of this shift for India’s digital transformation and called on enterprises to focus on high-impact, scalable AI use cases. The Bengaluru centre will serve as a key milestone in IBM’s ongoing efforts to nurture homegrown innovation within a strong governance framework.
