India, U.S. Partner on AI, Quantum Tech & Critical Minerals

India and the United States are deepening their technological collaboration, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and critical mineral supply chains. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington, he and U.S. President Donald Trump outlined new initiatives to strengthen ties in emerging technologies and strategic industries.

Advancing AI and Semiconductor Capabilities

As AI continues to reshape industries worldwide, both countries have committed to jointly developing AI technologies. President Trump emphasized the need for collaboration, stating that India and the U.S. must remain at the forefront of AI advancements.

Beyond AI, the partnership extends to semiconductor development, quantum computing, and biotechnology. These fields are seen as crucial for economic growth and national security, particularly in reducing reliance on foreign technology sources.

Reducing Dependence on China for Critical Minerals

A key focus of the discussions was securing stable supply chains for critical minerals, such as lithium and rare earth elements. These materials are essential for manufacturing electric vehicle (EV) batteries, semiconductor chips, and advanced defense technologies. The two nations plan to develop joint strategies to boost domestic production and processing capacity, countering China’s dominance in this sector.
