IndiaAI and Microsoft Collaborate to Advance AI Innovation and Skilling in India

IndiaAI, an Independent Business Division under the Digital India Corporation, has partnered with Microsoft to boost artificial intelligence (AI) development and adoption across the country. The collaboration, aligned with the IndiaAI Mission, aims to drive inclusive development, foster innovation, and position India as a global leader in AI.

Key Goals of the Partnership

The MoU outlines an ambitious agenda to train 500,000 individuals, establish AI Centers of Excellence, and promote ethical AI development. Highlights include:

  • Skilling and Education: By 2026, Microsoft and IndiaAI will train half a million individuals, including students, educators, developers, government officials, and women entrepreneurs. AI Productivity Labs will be established in 20 training centers across 10 states, empowering 20,000 educators and 100,000 students in foundational AI courses.
  • AI Catalysts for Innovation: A Center of Excellence called “AI Catalysts” will be set up to promote AI innovation in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. These hubs will support 100,000 AI innovators through hackathons, community initiatives, and an AI marketplace.
  • AI for Startups: Microsoft’s Founders Hub program will provide AI startups with access to Azure credits, mentorship, and business resources. Up to 1,000 startups will benefit under the IndiaAI Mission.
  • Localized AI Solutions: Foundational models with Indic language support will be developed to address India’s linguistic diversity. These will ensure cultural and contextual relevance for AI applications across critical sectors like healthcare and agriculture.
  • Responsible AI Development: The partnership will prioritize ethical AI practices by creating frameworks and standards. An AI Safety Institute will also be established to ensure safe and responsible AI implementation.
