At Mobile World Congress 2025, Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), in collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia, announced the launch of the Open Telecom AI Platform, a next-generation AI-driven framework designed to transform telecom networks through intelligent automation, enhanced security, and optimized network efficiency.
AI-Powered Network Intelligence for Telecom
The Open Telecom AI Platform aims to create a central intelligence layer for telecom and digital services, integrating AI and automation into every layer of network operations. By leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), domain-specific Small Language Models (SLMs), and non-GenAI machine learning techniques, the platform is set to deliver real-time, AI-driven insights that enable networks to become self-optimizing, customer-aware ecosystems.
Mathew Oommen, Group CEO, Reliance Jio, emphasized the transformative potential of AI in telecom:
“By harnessing agentic AI across all telco layers, we are building a multimodal, multi-domain orchestrated workflow platform that redefines efficiency, intelligence, and security. In collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia, we are advancing the Open Telecom AI Platform to transform networks into autonomous, real-time adaptive ecosystems, enhancing user experiences and unlocking new revenue opportunities.”
Industry Leaders Drive AI Adoption in Telecom
The partnership brings together expertise from across telecom infrastructure, spanning RAN, core networks, security, AI data centers, and cloud computing.
Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, highlighted the role of AI-powered computing in modern telecom networks:
“AMD is proud to collaborate with Jio, Cisco, and Nokia to power the next generation of AI-driven telecom infrastructure. Our portfolio of high-performance CPUs, GPUs, and adaptive computing solutions will enable service providers to create more secure, efficient, and scalable networks.”
Chuck Robbins, Chair and CEO of Cisco, underscored the impact of AI on network efficiency:
“This collaboration harnesses the expertise of industry leaders to revolutionize networks with AI. Cisco is contributing solutions across networking, compute, AI defense, and analytics, ensuring the Telecom AI Platform enhances efficiency, security, and revenue streams for service providers.”
Pekka Lundmark, President and CEO of Nokia, emphasized the operational advantages of AI-powered networks:
“The Telecom AI Platform will help Jio optimize and monetize network investments through improved performance, automation, and customer experience. Nokia is proud to bring its expertise in RAN, core, and transport technologies to this initiative.”
