JK Cement, DPIIT Join Forces for Startups

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has partnered with JK Cement. This move aims to strengthen India’s manufacturing sector and drive innovation.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) focuses on empowering startups and supporting entrepreneurs. Through this collaboration, DPIIT and JK Cement seek to promote sustainable development across various industries.

Boosting Startups with Resources and Innovation

The collaboration will focus on providing infrastructure, mentorship, and R&D facilities to at least 10 startups over the next year. JK Cement has committed to aiding budding entrepreneurs by granting access to cutting-edge manufacturing setups, pilot project opportunities, university resources, and state-of-the-art research facilities.

Speaking on the partnership, Madhav Singhania, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JK Cement, said, “Partnering with DPIIT reflects our unwavering commitment to nation-building. Together, we aim to cultivate a dynamic and competitive manufacturing ecosystem, driving India’s ambition of becoming a self-reliant and innovation-led economy.”

Expanding DPIIT’s Collaborative Efforts

This partnership is part of a larger push by DPIIT to collaborate with corporations and organizations to enhance the manufacturing ecosystem in India. On January 8, DPIIT signed an agreement with Walmart to empower startups and MSMEs, particularly from Tier II and III cities. The initiative aims to help these enterprises scale and compete on both national and international levels.

Last week, DPIIT also joined forces with the Startup Policy Forum (SPF) to further India’s manufacturing capabilities. The collaboration is designed to connect global investors with India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem and facilitate relationships with international corporations.

A Larger Vision for India’s Manufacturing Sector

In recent months, DPIIT has focused on fostering innovation and self-reliance by partnering with industry leaders like HCLSoftware, Flipkart, bOAt, and Tally. These partnerships aim to strengthen India’s tech and manufacturing sectors, supporting the vision of a competitive economy.

DPIIT is also preparing for the second edition of the Startup Mahakumbh event, set for April 4 to 6, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam. This event will gather startups, investors, and key stakeholders to highlight India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and explore growth opportunities.

Driving a Self-Reliant Future

DPIIT’s collaboration with JK Cement underscores a shared commitment to fostering innovation and driving India’s manufacturing sector toward global competitiveness. Through such initiatives, the government continues to lay the foundation for a self-reliant, technology-driven, and sustainable future.
