LG to Invest ₹1,000 Crore in Global R&D Centre in Noida

In a major boost to India’s technology and innovation landscape, South Korea’s LG Corporation has announced an investment of ₹1,000 crore to establish a new global research and development (R&D) centre in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The project aims to create around 500 new high-skilled jobs and reinforce Noida’s emergence as a preferred destination for global technology companies.

A high-level LG delegation met with Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M to finalise the details of the project, which will span 27,129 square metres in the Phase II industrial area. Both parties discussed logistical timelines and infrastructure support to ensure smooth execution.

According to an official statement from the Noida Authority, the meeting “ensured steady progress on the project’s logistics and timeline, reinforcing the strong collaborative relationship between LG and the Noida Authority.” The move reflects growing confidence among multinational corporations in India’s robust policy environment and industrial ecosystem.

Noida’s Rise as a Global Innovation Hub

The new facility will serve as LG’s global centre for innovation, contributing to product design, software development, and advanced engineering research. Once operational, it is expected to play a key role in strengthening India’s position as a strategic hub for R&D and manufacturing excellence.

Noida has rapidly evolved into one of India’s most attractive R&D destinations for global tech majors. Earlier this year, Microsoft laid the foundation for its 1.1 million sq. ft India Development Centre (IDC) in Sector 145, while the Indian arm of Japan’s Renesas Electronics also announced plans for advanced chip design centres in Noida and Bengaluru.

These developments reflect India’s growing stature in the global semiconductor and deep-tech ecosystem, underpinned by proactive state policies, reliable infrastructure, and an expanding pool of skilled engineering talent.

Building for the Future

The upcoming LG R&D centre aligns with India’s broader goal of becoming a global leader in electronics design and innovation. It will not only bolster local employment but also attract ancillary industries and startups in Noida’s technology corridor.

Officials noted that the project complements the government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ missions by anchoring high-value R&D investments that integrate global expertise with local capabilities.

By setting up its global R&D hub in India, LG joins a growing list of technology leaders that are betting big on Noida’s transformation into a world-class innovation and manufacturing destination.
