Lodha and Maharashtra to Build ₹30,000 Cr Green Data Centre Park

Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with real estate developer Lodha to establish a ₹30,000 crore data centre park. This initiative is part of the state’s broader strategy to become a national digital infrastructure hub.

The project will be developed in Navi Mumbai’s Palava Industrial and Logistics Park, spanning 100 acres. It aims to attract hyperscalers, colocation providers, and enterprise data centres with sustainable energy as a core pillar.

Boost to digital economy and green infra push

The new data centre park is expected to play a vital role in supporting India’s fast-growing cloud computing and AI ecosystem. With demand for digital services expanding rapidly, Maharashtra is positioning itself as a key enabler of data infrastructure capacity.

The collaboration with Lodha is aligned with the government’s emphasis on green technology and sustainable development. The project will include renewable energy integration and smart water management systems, in line with global ESG goals.

Officials stated that the MoU reflects a proactive approach to cater to the digital economy while reducing environmental impact.

Policy support and private participation

Maharashtra has been ramping up policy support for digital infrastructure projects, including special incentives for data centres under its IT/ITES policy. The partnership with Lodha signals growing private sector interest in next-gen infrastructure, especially in high-growth corridors like Navi Mumbai.

The ₹30,000 crore commitment represents one of the largest greenfield investments in India’s data economy. As enterprises and governments digitise operations and AI workloads increase, reliable and sustainable data centres will be critical for national resilience.
