NeGD Integrates 2,000 e-Services Across India

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), operating under India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has announced the successful pan-India integration of nearly 2,000 e-Government services through the DigiLocker and e-District platforms. This move enables seamless access to digital services for citizens across all 36 States and Union Territories.

The milestone significantly boosts Digital India’s mission to deliver citizen-centric governance, offering streamlined access to welfare schemes, utility payments, certificates, and other public services—anytime, anywhere. The announcement marks a major stride toward mobile-first, paperless governance aligned with India’s broader Sustainable Development Goals.

State-wise rollout led by Maharashtra

With this rollout, Maharashtra leads the nation in digital service availability, offering 254 services through the platforms. Delhi follows with 123 services, Karnataka with 113, Assam with 102, and Uttar Pradesh with 86. Several other states are also actively supporting the initiative—Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir have each integrated 77 services, while Andhra Pradesh (76), Gujarat (64), Tamil Nadu (63), and Goa (63) continue expanding their reach. Haryana (60) and Himachal Pradesh (58) round out the top contributors. Altogether, 1,938 services are now accessible nationally.

The digital infrastructure relies on DigiLocker’s interoperable and secure framework, which has proven effective in enabling access, ensuring authenticity, and maintaining user trust. The platforms have helped reduce administrative delays, boost service delivery transparency, and provide consistent digital experiences across regions.

Next phase: AI integration and outreach

Building on this foundation, NeGD plans to incorporate emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence, to scale and personalize citizen services. This includes using AI to streamline service delivery, automate verification, and ensure last-mile inclusivity. NeGD will also conduct structured workshops and training to raise awareness and build capacity at the state level.

The organisation is positioning its platforms not just as government utilities, but as essential public digital goods forming the backbone of India’s e-Governance strategy. NeGD’s continued innovation is expected to further bridge the digital divide and accelerate the shift to inclusive governance models.

This national rollout represents more than a technical integration—it is a signal of intent from the Indian government to redefine how citizens interact with public services, using digital infrastructure as the primary channel for governance.
