NITI-NCAER Launches State Economic Forum Portal

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the “NITI NCAER States Economic Forum” portal on April 1, 2025, in New Delhi. Developed jointly by NITI Aayog and the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), the portal will serve as a comprehensive platform offering 30 years of economic, social, and fiscal data for all 28 Indian states.

A Comprehensive Data Platform for Policymakers and Researchers

The portal has been designed to offer a centralised hub of insights for policymakers, researchers, and analysts seeking to understand state-level macroeconomic dynamics. It includes four primary components:

  • State Reports summarising demographic, economic, socio-economic, and fiscal conditions of each state.

  • Data Repository spanning five verticals—Demography, Economic Structure, Fiscal, Health, and Education.

  • Fiscal and Economic Dashboards featuring visual insights and interactive data tools.

  • Research and Commentary offering in-depth analysis and expert perspectives on state finances and fiscal governance.

Streamlined Access to Historical and Real-Time Analytics

Spanning data from 1990–91 to 2022–23, the portal will help users benchmark a state’s performance against national figures and other states. It also allows for comparative evaluations, supports real-time analytics, and enables evidence-based policy planning. The graphical dashboard interface will provide both summary views and access to raw data through downloadable appendices.

Fostering Informed Dialogue and Policy Innovation

By consolidating sectoral data across decades and thematic areas, the portal is expected to encourage informed debates and enhance transparency in public finance and governance. With a user-friendly interface, the forum will become a key knowledge partner for decision-makers seeking to analyse emerging patterns and formulate development strategies aligned with India’s federal and growth objectives.
