OMRON, Cognizant Join Forces for Smart Manufacturing

OMRON Corporation and Cognizant have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at transforming global manufacturing through seamless integration of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT). As part of the collaboration, Cognizant has been selected as the engineering partner for OMRON’s Industrial Automation Business (IAB) products.

The alliance brings together OMRON’s advanced automation systems—spanning sensors, servo motors, safety equipment, and robots—with Cognizant’s expertise in cloud computing, AI, IoT, and digital twin technologies. The joint offering will provide a comprehensive, one-stop solution for industries looking to embrace digital transformation at scale.

Targeting Key Manufacturing Sectors

The collaboration will cater to multiple industries including automotive, semiconductors, electronics, industrial manufacturing, life sciences, and consumer goods. It promises consultancy, implementation, operation, and maintenance support—all unified under a single IT-OT integration framework.

By combining OMRON’s field-level automation capabilities with Cognizant’s IT infrastructure and analysis tools like the Asset Performance Excellence (APEx) platform and OnePlant™ maturity assessment tool, the two companies aim to improve productivity, enable data-driven decision-making, and enhance sustainability across manufacturing processes.

Driving Sustainable and Intelligent Manufacturing

“This partnership addresses urgent manufacturing challenges by combining OMRON’s extensive control equipment portfolio with Cognizant’s advanced digital expertise,” said Junta Tsujinaga, CEO of OMRON Corporation. “We are committed to solving productivity and decision-making issues through IT-OT convergence.”
