Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has circulated a draft ‘Reliance AI Manifesto’ to over six lakh employees, positioning AI as “the most consequential technological development in human history” and outlining plans to transform the conglomerate into an AI-native deep tech enterprise. The internal document sets dual goals of achieving 10x improvements in workforce outcomes and 10x societal impact through Reliance’s businesses, with a commitment to deliver “affordable AI for every Indian.”
Embedding Agentic AI in Core Processes
The manifesto proposes redesigning enterprise workflows end-to-end with AI integration, targeting procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and plant-to-port cycles to eliminate manual effort while enhancing speed, quality, and decision accuracy. A 12-layer Digital Functional Core would anchor this transformation, placing data at the foundation and AI as the acceleration layer, governed by strict compliance, human accountability, and safety protocols.
Ambani emphasises augmentation over replacement, raising work standards through intelligent automation across Jio’s 500-million subscriber platform, Reliance Retail supply chains, and emerging domains like new energy, life sciences, financial services, and media.
Organisational Shift to AI-First Pods
Implementation would restructure teams into small, cross-functional “pods” with clear goals and single-point accountability, pushing ownership closer to execution and accelerating AI deployment. The manifesto invites employee feedback by January 26 before finalisation, reflecting collaborative shaping of Reliance’s AI strategy. Ambani flags potential development of indigenous AI hardware, robotics, and power-efficient systems to bolster India’s technological self-reliance alongside the productivity mission.
Dual Focus on Internal and External Impact
Part one addresses internal operations embedding AI and agentic systems throughout the organisation, while part two explores applications across Reliance’s diverse portfolio to amplify national economic and social outcomes. The vision positions Reliance as a platform for democratising AI access, leveraging its scale to drive productivity gains that extend beyond corporate boundaries into India’s broader development ecosystem.
