Suzlon Group has announced a significant milestone in collaboration with Torrent Power, securing a 486 MW hybrid renewable energy order in Gujarat. The project aligns with India’s renewable energy goals, particularly its commitment to achieving 50% of electricity generation from renewable sources under the “Make in India” initiative.
Project Details
As part of the agreement, Suzlon will deliver 162 advanced S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs). These will be equipped with Hybrid Lattice (HLT) Towers, each with a rated capacity of 3 MW. The turbines will be installed in the Bhogat region of Gujarat. The S144 WTGs, known for their efficiency in low-wind conditions, represent cutting-edge technology tailored for optimal performance.
Strengthening a Long-Standing Partnership
This collaboration extends a decade-long partnership between Suzlon and Torrent Power, achieving a cumulative order of 1 GW across Gujarat and Karnataka. Speaking about the milestone, Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasized, “We are proud to partner with Torrent Power, a pioneer in integrating renewables into their energy portfolio. This partnership reflects trust, innovation, and a shared commitment to India’s energy transition.”
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, added, “This order highlights our commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable, and quality power. The success of our S144 turbine has played a pivotal role in this collaboration, reinforcing the importance of advanced technology in driving India’s renewable energy future.”
