Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced two major strategic moves to deepen its AI footprint — one focused on the global retail sector in partnership with NVIDIA, and another aimed at transforming the business support systems (BSS) of telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) using AI-powered platforms.
Together, these initiatives signal TCS’s intent to strengthen its leadership in AI services across both international and domestic markets by combining advanced computing with deep domain expertise.
NVIDIA Partnership: AI for the Future of Retail
In a statement, TCS said it is integrating NVIDIA AI Enterprise software and accelerated computing into its suite of retail products and solutions. The move aims to help global retailers adopt next-generation AI tools like computer vision, digital twins, and generative AI — with a strong focus on improving agility, cost-efficiency, and customer experience.
According to TCS, retailers using its NVIDIA-powered solutions can reduce operational costs by as much as 75%, thanks to optimizations in pricing decisions, inventory management, and content automation.
TCS has already launched solutions for:
AI-generated retail content
Video analytics for shelf and inventory tracking
Real-time pricing intelligence
Krishnan Ramanujam, President of TCS’s Consumer Business Group, said:
“Together with NVIDIA, we’re redefining what’s possible in retail. By combining our domain depth with high-performance AI, we’re helping retailers unlock new growth and operational excellence.”
Azita Martin, VP & GM of AI for Retail at NVIDIA, added:
“With TCS, retailers can now use accelerated AI to automate tasks, personalize customer experiences, and simulate business scenarios in real-time.”
TCS currently operates a dedicated NVIDIA Business Unit with 12 AI-powered solutions across industries and 9 global centers of excellence.
Vodafone Idea Deal: Modernising Telecom with AI
In parallel, TCS has signed a five-year agreement with Vodafone Idea to revamp its BSS using AI, automation, and cloud-native technologies. The transformation will be driven by two flagship TCS platforms:
TCS HOBS – A digital backbone for end-to-end BSS operations
TCS TwinX – An AI/ML-powered platform for scenario simulation and predictive insights
The upgraded platform aims to:
Enhance customer experience with personalized interactions
Improve service agility through automation
Increase operational efficiency and scalability
Jagbir Singh, Group CTO at Vodafone Idea, said:
“With this partnership, we’re laying the groundwork for a smarter, more customer-centric telecom experience.”
Ujjwal Mathur, President & Country Head, India Business, TCS, noted that the engagement builds on a 15-year partnership between the two firms and represents a pivotal leap in AI-led transformation for the Indian telecom sector.
