TP Solar, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), has won a ₹455 crore order from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (MSPGCL) to supply 300 MWp solar modules. The modules will be delivered across Maharashtra this year as part of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0 project, according to a company statement released on Monday.
Part of a Larger Renewable Push
The order is part of MSPGCL’s larger 750 MWp tender, which was finalized through a competitive e-Reverse Auction (eRA) process. The project aligns with Maharashtra’s goal of promoting renewable energy and enhancing energy efficiency across the state.
Solar Manufacturing Leadership in India
TP Solar operates India’s largest single-location solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, with a capacity of 4.3 GW each for solar cells and modules. Tata Power has invested approximately ₹4,300 crore in the plant, marking a significant move toward indigenization and self-reliance in the solar value chain.
The facility employs advanced technologies, including TOPCon and Mono PERC, to produce ALMM-certified modules and DCR modules using India-made cells. It has also been designed with open spaces for future capacity expansion, reflecting Tata Power’s long-term commitment to renewable energy.

Supporting Maharashtra’s Renewable Goals
The Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 aims to provide reliable and sustainable energy solutions for Maharashtra’s agricultural sector. The modules supplied under this project will help achieve that goal.
This order strengthens TP Solar’s position as a key player in India’s renewable energy sector. It also reinforces Tata Power’s leadership in solar manufacturing and supports the adoption of clean energy in India.
