VVDN Boosts India’s Electronics Drive

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated VVDN Technologies’ advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Line and Mechanical Innovation Park at its Global Innovation Park in Manesar, Haryana, marking a significant leap in India’s electronics production capabilities. During his visit, the Minister also announced that the New Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, recently approved by the Cabinet, will soon be operational, positioning India as a key player in global electronics supply chains.

India’s Electronics Sector Grows Fivefold; Exports Up Six Times

Highlighting the sector’s rapid growth, the Minister stated that electronics production in India has quintupled, reaching ₹11 lakh crore, while exports have surged six times, now exceeding ₹3.25 lakh crore. He called this one of the biggest success stories of the ‘Make in India’ initiative and emphasized the creation of over 25 lakh jobs in the electronics sector alone.

Manesar Innovation Park Showcases India’s Design Strength

Vaishnaw praised VVDN’s facility, where over 5,000 engineers are involved in the design and development of AI-embedded electronic systems. He stressed that India now not only manufactures but also designs complex electronics—a capability that enhances its global competitiveness. The deployment of 6,000 AI servers by VVDN was also highlighted as a milestone in showcasing the country’s growing hardware strength.

Focus on Indigenous Design Tools, Skill Development, and IP Protection

The Minister noted that India is now developing its own design tools, which marks a vital move toward technological self-reliance. He reiterated India’s commitment to trusted electronics manufacturing, built on IP rights protection, design-led innovation, and secure rare earth supply chains.

A three-tier skilling strategy was also outlined:

  1. Basic electronics training

  2. On-site product-specific training

  3. University-level industry-aligned courses

This approach is set to prepare India’s workforce for high-capital, high-tech manufacturing environments.
