Beverage company and cafe chain Chai Point has cut its AWS cloud bill by 58.2%. Dharmendra Raghuvanshi, the company’s director and head of digital transformation, shared the figures in a LinkedIn post.
He said the monthly AWS bill fell from $10,877 to $4,550 over 12 months. About 80% of the savings came from what the company calls the Agentic Cost Audit. One senior engineer ran it with Claude Code.
How the Agentic Cost Audit Worked
The audit used Claude Code to examine Chai Point’s production and quality assurance cloud accounts in read-only mode. It matched individual cost items with usage data. This helped find idle infrastructure, orphaned resources, oversized deployments and configuration problems. It then ranked possible changes by estimated savings, effort and risk.
The engineer made the changes in stages. Low-risk clean-ups came first. Configuration changes, infrastructure right-sizing and code-level improvements followed. The team checked the next AWS invoice against its estimates and fixed any gaps in later rounds.
Dharmendra Raghuvanshi wrote that AI did not replace the engineers judgement. It removed the cost of looking.
Savings Without Shrinking the Platform
The savings did not reduce the scale of the underlying platform. Chai Point’s Fountain technology stack supports its Intelligent Beverage Platform. According to Raghuvanshi, it still runs more than 8,000 connected brewing bots across over 170 outlets.
Commercial Changes Added to the Savings
Chai Point also cut costs through commercial changes. Between December 2025 and February 2026, it moved its AWS billing to Isaga, an AWS partner reseller. That secured a flat 5% discount. Moving steady-state computing workloads to an AWS Savings Plan cut committed spending by about 15%, the post said.
Chai Point credited roughly 19% of the total savings to these commercial steps. The remaining 80% came from the engineering audit. The biggest technical savings came from idle and orphaned infrastructure, which made up 16% of the reduction. Operational misconfigurations accounted for 15%
